As she lay under me, the cleverness and sting of her remark ever apparent on my face through my stare, I try to realize what she's doing. Is she pushing my buttons and trying to get a rise out of me or trying to loosen me up? Perhaps both. However, all I know is that regardless of the questions in my mind, the smile on my face is immovable. I play her game..
"Proding me is a dangerous game." I say. "You have no idea what I could do to you."
Intimidating words, made all the least so by the smile on my face she has placed there, deeper we go into our game, neither one wanting to move an inch. But neither willing to also admit when they've already lost..
"That dangerous eh?" she questions with a look of confident defiance.
"Does it frighten you..." I ask her, rather than give her an answer, sharpening my gaze upon hers.
"I'm Terrified" she states, in a sarcastically baiting tone. But I'm not giving her the satisfaction.. or maybe.. that's exactly what I am doing. Yet, I dig deeper... not realizing my waist resting easier against her own as my tension eased, not noticing my hands loosening along her wrists as if looking for a new place to rest themselves..
"How terrified?" I say.. my voice near dropping to a whisper as I notice the distance I've leaned towards her has grown closer and only now do I realize how thick the air gets the closer I get. I must keep a confident face..lest she figure this out at the same time I do..
Fortunately she seemed all too pre-occupied with exploiting the opening rather than understanding why there was one, and turning me over on to my back. A smile of triumph flashes across her face, one I've grown familiar with and one I'm beginning to adore. Not missing a beat, she gives me her answer.
"Not enough to stop.."
The victory is hers..
