On 17 September 1939, around four o'clock in the morning, the Soviet Union attacked Poland. In doing so, Stalin fulfilled the August secret agreement with Hitler (the Molotov-Ribbentrop Pact), which provided for the joint aggression against the Polish-Lithuanian Commonwealth, the occupation and partition of its territory and the de facto liquidation of the Polish state. In just over two weeks, the Third Reich and the USSR initiated the outbreak of the Second World War.
On September 17, 1939, the Soviet occupation began in Poland, which soon led to the Katyn genocide and mass deportations of Poles to the east. Moreover, this date is a symbolic beginning of the permanent loss of the Eastern Borderlands and the deprivation of independence from the Republic of Poland for the next several dozen years.
Good Morning Mari and also a Good Morning to Valley. Thanks for the interesting history lesson. I didn't know what this "Molotov-Ribbentrop Pact" was until now. I had to read it on Wiki to understand what happened.
As I remember, you had posted this work before. That's why I wanted to recall your written words again in our memory:

The work tells the story of Witold Pilecki. After losing the defensive war in 1939, he joined the Home Army. In 1940 he was deliberately caught in a roundup to pass on reports about life in the extermination camp (Auschwitz-Birkenau), the so-called Pilecki Reports. They were handed over by *ZOW soldiers under the command of Rotamaster Pilecki. He escaped in 1943.

He fought as an insurgent, as a gunner and as a commander. He was a prisoner of war for a year. Murdered by communists in 1948, under false accusation of espionage. Another interesting piece of information is the words written by Pilecki in prison, "I tried to live in such a way, that at the hour of death I could be happy rather than afraid".

Running Wild - "Ballad Of William Kidd"
Type: Full-length
Title "The Rivalry"
Release date:February 9th, 1998
Label: GUN Records
Genre: Heavy/Power/Speed Metal
He was born at the shore of Greenock in the year 1645
Ran away at the age of fourteen, to flee from his soul-killing life
He signed on to sail the wild-winds
But he worked down his hands and his knees
He stood his test on the waters, so they said "He was bred to the sea"
In 1697, the "Adventurer..." was setting its sails
With the letter of marque and reprisal, Kidd was prepared for his trail
They sailed the sea with the mission, to hunt down "Tew" and "Long Ben"
A serious riot was rising, so Kidd struck down one of his men
And he died!
Blue-blooded men they fell from grace
Piranhas eating their own
They sacrificed at the altar of lies
So fate took its course in the ballad of William Kidd
The "Adventurer..." returned to her hometown, Kidd was forced to defence
They charged him with looting and murder his patrons and generous friends
He''d left his crew at St. Thomas, to guard his honour from shame
But the lords they lied like a trooper, not to lose their own heads in the game
Blue-blooded men they fell from grace
Piranhas eating their own
They sacrificed at the altar of lies
So fate took its course in the ballad of William Kidd
The lords testified, their unholy lies, to save their own heads from the gallows
They sacrificed Kidd, they took him for a ride that conspiratorial fellows
They judged him and they found him guilty of piracy of the high seas
Betraying men of honour, you know lie and cheat as they please
A case of judicial murder caused the death of a seafaring man
Slanderous bunch of liars, to hell your souls will be damned
Blue-blooded men they fell from grace
Piranhas eating their own
They sacrificed at the altar of lies
So fate took its portentous course. What a shame!

Note:
William "captain" Kidd - one of the bloodiest and most famous pirates in the history of the world. Already during his lifetime, he was accused of the greatest crimes. The protagonist of many dark pirate tales.
On May 23, 1701, Captain William Kidd was tried for piracy and executed on the banks of the River Thames. This is how one of the most famous privateers ended his life. The day before his execution, Kidd handed over the chest to his boatswain Ned Ward. In its double bottom, Ned and his grandson Jack discovered a map. This is how their journey for the treasure, which Captain Kidd had cleverly hidden in the distant Caribbean, began.
Good evening, that was nice to read and also cool song from Running Wild. I like to watch these old Pirates Movies/documentaries and reading books about this time in history very much

"Lightness of Non-existence"
~••❖•••✦*~•✦•••❖❖••••✦•~*✦•••❖••~
In the morning light I return from the dreamland of non-existence.
I am drowning in semiconsciousness.
Light in an almost liquid consistency sticks to the body,
it penetrates through them into the mind.
Thoughts frozen in the night wake up from lethargy.
Cool and warm merge into one.
Daily agony.
Almost agony
because the body is still reacting.
Random muscle twitch,
tingling in the neck.
Neurons wander again creating utopian worlds
they delude the senses.
I can smell lavender.
One more being fills the space.
Sensitivity to every noise.
Silence...
A brush of a hand.
My eyelids are tearing open.
The glare penetrates the eyes, almost burning them out.
I break through it looking for presence.
He finds it in a small, colorful butterfly floating in the suffocated air.
After a while of searching, it hits a beam of light,
it flows through the window into the blue-green space.
He leaves me unaware
something in me disappears with it.
