I have not seen The Shawshank Redemption. I have no memorie in store of me seeing it. Maybe i did see it back then when it was released. I mean, it is a "drama", and dramas was not on my menu at that time.
So how is it? Is it the greatest film ever released?
I'm going to challange that, not even seen the film. I can not imagine i would place it at my top5 films ever seen. Or will i?
What is it with that film that make so many rank it as the best film they've ever seen?
I'm currently watching JAWS on cmore.se, and i rank that at my top5 movies ever seen.
Would "Shanks" beat that? I love sharks, probably because of this movie. I did not began hating sharks because of it, to wanted them dead, hunt them, and put a jaw on my wall by seeing this movie.
Many others did though. Now, the Great White shark is an endangered species.
Fuck, sharks in general is endangered nowdays.
The only good shark is a dead shark...
There's some good actors in "Shanks": Morgan Freeman and Clancy "The Kurgan" Brown stands out to me.
Tim Robbins though... Never been a big fan of him.
How would you rank these 2 movies. Which is better?

Plus you are talking about movies in 2 different genre's So they can not be adequately compared. Jaws is just a fictional horror movie. Whereas The Shawshank Redemption is base on a true story. So there is no true comparison.

Nope, i don't think oldie Morgan can't save Shanks for me either, but i'll watch it someday, when i'm ot of other movies. -
There is no comparison. One is pure fiction and personally I saw Jaws and wasn't that impressed. Just another Horror/Thriller movie. second I don't drink and can't stand beer. And as to what I watch depends on the mood I'm in at the time.

However, i do not doubt the Shanks is a good movie, though, i am guessing it is a One-time-look movie, because i rarely rewatch movies that just have a lot of talk in them. It does seem to be one of those.
Dramas is my least favored genre. They're either too sad and/or depressing, or just plain dull, full of reallife shitfest i already have enough of.
I prefer fantasy, unrealistic, sci-fi... Anything that's not mimicing the plain grey real world.
