Reaper Rona Prime has been sent to investigate an alternate Earth to see if the populace can be a potential food supply... but on arrival, the world is obviously in the grip of some catastrophic event... and that event is a zombie holocaust.
After saving a woman, Rita, from a zombie Rona decided to have a snack... but her act was interrupted by a surprising interloper who shakes Rona to the core... Sara! Rona then meets this Earth's version of an ex boyfriend, Daniel, the Commissioner of a sealed off section of the city, who takes Rita to be processed- only to reveal that he runs the city like a crime lord.
After an evening of sexual pleasure, Rona decides to answer Sara's questions and relates the story of how she and her world's Sara were introduced to the Delta V drug that would create a world of Vampires.... when she reveals that in her transformation she caused her Sara's death, Sara does not take the news well and tells her to leave.
In the meantime, Rita, after being raped and forced to become a whore, makes it to a roof and tries to kill herself. Rona almost saves her but when she hears Rita's dying words makes a terrible decision and makes her a vampire so she can survive to tell Sara the truth. But now Daniel is onto them and has sent his men to take them in.

On a world of Vampires, the food supply has become very scarce. A freak accident however showed how they could break the veil between realities and explore new Earths. There are 3 categories of Earth:
Cull- where the technology is less than theirs and no threat, the Vampires take the planet as a farm and the whole population as livestock.
Take- if the technology could prove a small threat, a gradual snatch and grab policy is implemented.
Hide. If the Earth could fight back with technology superior to theirs, the Vampires retreat back to their Earth and mark as Quarantined. That is no more contact is to be made.
To make the decisions, Reapers are sent to evaluate the Earths in question. Reaper Rona Prime is their most successful, and is hugely popular with the citizens of her world. It is a popularity that is making some powerful people jealous of her success.
Furthermore the Reaper has a personal mission that is in direct conflict with her role as Reaper. Now her story can finally be told...

Rona is judging Rita on how she was when she first became a vampire- but Rita is a gentler woman than Rona was, plus there's another factor here- the zombie virus which all the people carry, so the Vamp virus isn't full blown. Plus there's Sara's influence- Rita feels a loyalty to her that is an anchor.
